Membership Benefits

  • Students can more easily find you: You can choose to be listed on our organization's website where prospective students will look to find local teachers. Visit our website at www.cnyamt.org

  • Further Musical Enrichment: Workshops and master classes with visiting artists, recitals, and competitions are highly motivating for the developing student musician.

  • Professional Support: Whether a new teacher or a seasoned one, we feel it is important to support and encourage each other. We offer lectures, discussions, workshops, and social events.

  • Pedagogical Enrichment: Some workshops are provided for the students benefit, and others are aimed toward the pedagogy and psychology of teaching.

  • Performing Opportunities: Recitals give teachers the chance to provide all levels of students with performance opportunities in a variety of venues: From large spaces like Park Central Presbyterian Church, or community locations like the Liverpool Library, Barnes and Noble and The Great Northern Mall.   Some recitals are theme oriented. All are supportive environments for both solo and ensemble performance. For the students ready for an extra push, there are competitions held every year. One is geared toward pianists, another toward vocalists, and a third for instrumentalists.

  • Music Scholarships: For elementary thru high school students attending summer music camps, scholarship competition winner(s) for seniors, and a merit scholarship for a senior going into music as a major or minor.

  • Student Lesson Tuition Assistance: Provides funds toward the tuition of  private music lessons for students who lack the financial means to further their  training due to current economic conditions. The amount of the tuition  assistance is based on our availability of funds as well as the applicant’s  referral from their CNYAMT teacher.

NOTE:

The annual membership fee is due on or before midnight of October 1st.

New members will be entitled to all benefits beginning on the first day of  membership.

• A member who inadvertently allows membership to lapse, will be entitled to  all benefits upon renewal during the lapsed year if the member can make  the case for inadvertency to the membership chair, who has the authority to  reinstate the member or bring the request to the board for consideration.

• Membership and full benefits may be renewed in full following a logical  lapse due to a withdrawal from active teaching for one full year or more.

• A lapse that is not related to withdrawal from active teaching in the  Central New York region will necessitate three successive years of  active dues-paying membership before student eligibility for senior  scholarship or student participation in the piano competition will be  re-activated.

This policy was necessitated by occasions of inconsistent membership taken  only when students were eligible for certain benefits.

Thank you for your membership in CNYAMT!
