CNYAMT invites teachers and students to join us in the education of musicians in the Central New York area. Our membership center is Syracuse, but reaches North to Fulton, West to Auburn, South to Cortland, and East to Utica. Join us in our educational endeavor!

All members are encouraged to attend board meetings to voice your opinion and be an active part of our organization. We encourage participation in committees to make our organization representative of our members' needs and to help it run more smoothly.

Membership Benefits

  • Students can more easily find you: You can choose to be listed on our organization's website where prospective students will look to find local teachers. Visit our website at www.cnyamt.org

  • Further Musical Enrichment: Workshops and master classes with visiting artists, recitals, and competitions are highly motivating for the developing student musician.

  • Professional Support: Whether a new teacher or a seasoned one, we feel it is important to support and encourage each other. We offer lectures, discussions, workshops, and social events.

  • Pedagogical Enrichment: Some workshops are provided for the students benefit, and others are aimed toward the pedagogy and psychology of teaching.

  • Performing Opportunities: Recitals give teachers the chance to provide all levels of students with performance opportunities in a variety of venues: From large spaces like Park Central Presbyterian Church, or community locations like the Liverpool Library, Barnes and Noble and The Great Northern Mall.   Some recitals are theme oriented. All are supportive environments for both solo and ensemble performance. For the students ready for an extra push, there are competitions held every year. One is geared toward pianists, another toward vocalists, and a third for instrumentalists.

  • Music Scholarships and Tuition Assistance: For elementary thru high school students attending summer music camps, scholarship competition winner(s) for seniors, and a merit scholarship for a senior going into music as a major or minor.
